Council will be meeting this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Douglas Cardinal Boardroom to discuss a few topics. This is not an emergency meeting, it’s just that sometimes meetings get scheduled outside of our regular Monday schedule for topics that may benefit from being discussed in a less formal setting (or when there simply aren’t enough hours left on Mondays!). There are a couple of items on the agenda as outlined below:
Land Use Bylaw Redistricting Review: This workshop will provide members of Council with the results of the stakeholder engagement sessions on December 15, 2015 and January 28, 2016, and the results from best practices background research. The feedback received from members of Council during the Workshop will enable the Consultant and Administration to proceed with developing a series of Housing Diversity Development Strategies, which will guide the remaining work on the Land Use Bylaw Update of residential districts.
Motion: Back Alleys: Mayor Crouse has provided the following notice of motion: “That Council reaffirm its position relative to back alleys and lanes.” Essentially, this motion calls for back alleys and lanes to be excluded from future planning in St. Albert.
CRB Growth Plan/CRB Update: Councillor Heron, who is a member of the Capital Region Growth Plan Task Force, will be providing an update on the currently underway review and updating of the Capital Region Growth Plan.
As you can see, the agenda focuses on how we grow as a community in the years to come. It should be an interesting discussion. As always, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions or share thoughts that you may have.
