I hope everyone is enjoying a great Family Day weekend. Lots of fun activities taking place around town. Thank you to all of the volunteers who have made these great events possible. Now, here’s a look at what is on the proposed agenda for Tuesday’s City Council meeting:
Hello everyone. Here’s a look at what is on the proposed Agenda for Monday’s City Council Meeting:
Here’s my weekly look at what is on the proposed agenda for the coming week’s meeting. It’s worth noting that at last week’s meeting Council approved a recommendation that would see the start time for Council meetings moved back to a later time beginning in November 2017 (the start of the next Council’s term). An exact time will be determined in the months to come. For now, meetings will continue at their regular Monday 2 p.m. start time.
Hope everyone is surviving this frosty weather. What better way to keep warm than reading through a St. Albert City Council Meeting Agenda. Am I right? Okay, maybe not, but nevertheless, here’s a look at what’s on tap for our final Council Meeting of 2016:
Just two Council Meetings remain in 2016 as we wrapped up our Budget deliberations last week. Based on the decisions that were made, next year’s projected municipal tax increase sits at 2.3%. That number is likely to go down as we are projecting a surplus this year and historically Council has chosen to use a portion of the surplus to pay for one-time projects in the following year’s budget. Taken alongside last year’s 0.4% reduction, we have averaged a tax increase under 1% the past two years while still moving ahead with some important projects. That’s something that I, and I believe my colleagues on Council, can all feel good about. Now, here’s a look at what’s on the Agenda for Monday’s meeting:
As I mentioned in last week’s post, we do continue on with our regular Council meetings during our Budget deliberations, of which we are about halfway through. A couple of highlights from Thursday’s meeting included approving funding for the Healing Garden which will recognize our community’s history with Residential Schools and allocating funding to ensure that the Art Gallery will be fully accessible to all residents. Budget deliberations will resume on Tuesday at 2 p.m.. In the meantime, here’s a look at what is on the Agenda for Monday’s meeting:
Because one Council meeting is never enough, this week features two meetings! The first will be our annual Organizational Meeting. This is a requirement of the Municipal Government Act and is when we set the meeting schedule for the coming year as well as approve our Committee assignments. The second meeting is our regular meeting and here’s what we’ll be discussing:
