Seeking the Alberta Party Nomination

Posted by on August 8, 2011 | 0 comments

After careful consideration, I am excited to announce that I will be seeking the Alberta Party nomination to run for MLA in St. Albert in the next provincial election. I have made the decision to seek the nomination for a number of reasons.  To begin with, I believe that it is time to restore the voice of Albertans in our political system.  The Alberta Party has committed to allowing free votes for their MLAs, ensuring that the needs of constituents will be the first and foremost concern of elected MLAs.  The Alberta Party has also spent considerable time over the past year listening to the voices of Albertans and compiling the themes from these discussions as a basis for policy.

I, like many, have grown tired of the negative campaigning that has dominated the political landscape over the past number of years.  We need to get back to ideas.  What has impressed me about the Alberta Party is its ability to attract Albertans from across the political spectrum.  We need to spend less time worrying about right and left and more time thinking about right and wrong.

I was first introduced to the Alberta Party at Reboot Alberta 2.0 in Kananaskis in 2010 and was pleased to join the Party shortly thereafter.  I have been a member of the Executive of our Constituency Association since its formation and have been involved in drafting the Alberta Party’s Social Policy over the past several months.  The policy directions for this area will be released at our AGM in September.

As I expect this to be a contested nomination, I will be calling on my friends, family and colleagues in St. Albert to come out and support me at the nomination meeting on Monday, September 26th.  To vote for me at this meeting, you must be a resident of the St. Albert Constituency and hold a membership in the Alberta Party. You can purchase a membership online or from me directly.

To stay connected to my campaign efforts, I encourage you to check out my Facebook Page here. Our Constituency Association will be hosting a BBQ in Lion’s Park on Saturday, August 27th, so if you’d like to learn more about the Party and meet some of the people who are involved, we’d love to see you there!
